Those of you at Mass last weekend would have heard Fr Peter read a pastoral letter from The Archbishop of Southwark outlining the next steps of the Archdiocese’s renewal process. We were also invited to take home a copy of the Consultation Document to read at home
The process – “Called to Bear Fruit” – seeks to ensure parish communities like ours are equipped with what they need to grow, evangelise, form disciples, and inspire witness.
The Archbishop said the process is a “journey of listening, collaboration, and renewal in a spirit of journeying together as the people of God”
The letter announced a consultation as part of the next phase of the renewal process. This consultation offers people a chance to share our own experiences here at St Aidan’s, provide suggestions on the challenges we face, as well as identify opportunities for parish communities to work more effectively together.
The consultation outlines six key themes for reflection, and we are encouraged to gather in small groups and come together prayerfully to share our insights. We then report our responses back to the diocese.
On behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council we would like to enable this process here at St Aidan’s.
We invite all Parishioners to participate in small discussion groups to address the themes outlined in the Consultation document.
This will involve a series of group gatherings, each lasting about an hour between now and the end of March. These meetings maybe in someone’s home, on Church premises or even online at a time to suit peoples availability.
We are also looking for parishioners who can help by hosting one of these groups in their homes.
If you are interested please contact Fr Peter or a member of the PPC.
This is an opportunity for all Parishioners to contribute their experiences and their hopes for the future of our parish. We would encourage as many of you as possible to participate.
